After coaching the 13-1s in 2009, Bonnee has returned to Mavericks to coach the 12-1s and the 14-1s in 2010. Bonnee has amassed 16 years of coaching experience at both the high school and club. She is the former director of Fusion Volleyball Club which is based in the Whittier area and owned by Bonnee’s parents. Bonnee also coached a couple years under Mary Jo Peppler at Coast VBC. She has also been involved with working with kids in Parks and Recreation volleyball program.
Bonnee brings a ton of playing experience to the Mavericks gym. She played 4 years on the varsity level in high school. Bonnee played 3 years for Fusion VBC and played Senior year for Chuck Kaulupali at Mission Valley VBC in Laguna. Bonnee earned full-scholarship Hawaii Pacific University where played middle hitter/blocker at 5’9” against opposing players who stood over 6’ tall. Bonnee finished her undergraduate degree in only 3 1/2 years and received Scholar Athlete award. Bonne has played in some beach tournaments and is currently playing in a women’s league in Tustin. Bonne is training to play on AVP circuit this coming summer. Other than volleyball, Bonnee also trains and completes in Muay Thai boxing.
Bonnee is married to Christian Arscott (who just returned from a 7-month deployment) and has 2 kids, Leimomi (10, current playing for Mavericks 12-1s) and Kio (7, who also does Muay Thai). Bonnee is a full-time mommy, business owner, and coach/mentor. Bonnee spends most of her time in the gym, training, helping others pursue their dreams in life, but does enjoy a relaxing spa day every once in a while. And, of course, she loves spending time with great friends and family.
Bonnee on what makes Mavericks special… Mavericks, to me, is ohana (family). This will be my 2nd year coaching at Mavericks VBC and I am very happy and grateful for Phil and the foundation on which he has built this club. With all my years experience doing this as director, coach, and player, it is always important to have some key elements to make a club successful and Mavericks has that. I am very happy that my daughter and I are both a part of Mavericks Volleyball. I know that Leimomi and all the Mavericks athletes are getting the training they need to pursue volleyball in the future.
