Peter Reuther "aka Coach Pancake" is in his 7th year at the Mavericks. Peter started playing volleyball at the age of 14 on the beaches in Santa Barbara. He played club in Northern California (Boys Volleyball wasn't offered in HS) from ages 15-19 in the 19 and under age division. Peter's teams finished 2nd, 5th and 3rd at Jr. Nationals the last three years. Peter also played one year at San Barbara City College.
Peter has worked for the Cask 'n' Cleaver Steakhouses for 27 years and currently runs the Cucamonga Cask. Peter is married to Alisa and has two kids, Brie and Ryan.
Peter's favorite hobby is volleyball!!! He still plays in tournaments: Men's 6's indoors and grass doubles every summer. Peter and Brie earned their first tournament win in reverse-co-ed grass doubles last summer after too many semis or finals appearances. With the "monkey off their backs," they are looking forward to more victories this year!
Peter on what makes Mavericks special...
"I choose the Mavericks for my daughter at age 11, because I had friends that I played with that coached for Phil. They enjoyed coaching very much and were great players too.The fact that they had their own Gym was a huge plus. I believe that Phil Sutherland has created an environment where players can learn volleyball at a very high level while keeping the joy and fun in the sport. We continue to educate ourselves, as coaches, in current volleyball techniques and theories."
